Livingston Parish Schools Human Resources

Human Resources Department Human Resources Department is under the supervision of the Finance Dept. and is accountable for all aspects that pertain to the effective operation of the parish’s personnel system. 

This includes payroll, administrative services and benefits administration for more than 130 full-time workers. Benefits administered through Human Resources include health, vision, dental and life insurance, and retirement benefits. 

Livingston Parish participates in the parochial Employees Retirement System (PERS). Employees can also contribute money to the Louisiana State Deferred Compensation Plan.

Livingston Parish Public Schools announces COVID-19 guidelines

Livingston Parish Public Schools announces COVID-19 regulations ahead of the new school year.

“Livingston Parish Public Schools will comply with the state guidelines, just as we have throughout the past year, in our response to health concerns caused by the COVID pandemic,” Superintendent Joe Murphy said. “

Our greatest responsibility has been, and will always be, the health and safety of our students and employees.”

Guidelines to follow for Livingston school are as follows:

  • Masks or coverings for the face will be required for all K-12 students and employees participating in indoor activities, per the governor’s order.
  • All drivers and passengers on school buses require coverings for the face.
  • The temperature check is not necessary upon entry to the campus. However, they may be required if school officials suspect an employee or student might be suffering from an illness that is considered to be feverish. People with fevers are taken home and must stay off campus until clear of any fevers for at least 24 hours.
  • The entire busses, classrooms, restrooms, and “high-touch” surfaces on campuses are regularly cleaned and disinfected.
  • Quarantines are required in any positive case. Certain guidelines specific to individual conditions include 1.) Quarantines can be terminated after ten days of testing if the patient isn’t displaying symptoms. 2.) Quarantines may be terminated after seven days if a person has taken a COVID PCR/molecular test and receives positive results, not displaying any symptoms.

The guidelines for contact tracing and quarantine for those who could be at risk of Exposure in the school environment will be adhered to under these conditions:

  • Close contacts of those who have been healthy and fully vaccinated are not required to take quarantine.
  • Close contacts for people who have not been vaccinated and were wearing masks when exposed, and the positive patient was also wearing a show are not required to be quarantined.
  • Close contacts of those who were not vaccination-free, who did not wear masks when they were exposed, or the positive person who did not wear masks, will be required to undergo quarantine.
  • Close contact quarantines have the same return policies as positive cases. They can be returned if they are symptom-free and without a test within ten days or return within seven days with a positive COVID Molecular/PCR test.
